The Ship Inn, Weybourne - at the heart of the village.
Weybourne is a very special corner of North Norfolk. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine a place where you can hear and smell the sea as it crashes onto a shingle beach. A place where you look out over open fields with perfect pockets of woodland - each one fringed with beautiful rhododendrons, so bright and vibrant. Now imagine a traditional steam train pulling polished wooded carriages cutting through the picture. Look closely and you will see that each carriage is full of smiling holidaymaker's on their way to either Sheringham or Holt. A perfect scene:
Welcome to Weybourne, what a wonderful place to be!
The Ship Inn, Weybourne has been under the watchful eye of Terry and his staff since July 2007. In this time The Ship has built a solid reputation for delicious home cooked food served in our unique style. Food and drink play equally important roles at The Ship as we pride ourselves on sourcing only the best local produce and ales. Since taking over in 2007 there have been a number of changes made both to the interior and exterior of the pub. Two air conditioning heating units have been installed; these give the duel benefit of providing constant heat during the winter and also a cool, fresh restaurant in the summer time ensuring that our customers’ needs are always met. A handsome, made-to-measure wood burner has been put into the bar area keeping it both traditional and cosy. Behind the scenes a cellar cooler has been installed to ensure a perfect pint every time. As for the exterior, the rebuilding of the bay windows on the north side of the pub was well overdue but after enduring endless days of scaffolding and an eight week over-run, the job was finally completed last October and the new windows look amazing. The outside of the pub is further enhanced with wonderful hanging baskets supplied by Emcy Garden Centre.
The biggest undertaking at The Ship Inn has been the renovation of an old store room into the newly named Hope Function Room. This multi-functional area boasts large glass doors opening onto the garden, a small dance floor, private bar, self-contained toilets and a small kitchen. Weybourne now has the perfect venue for a small celebration. The Hope Function Room has already been utilized for birthdays, Christmas parties, product launches and presentation evenings amongst others. Please look out for the Hope’s own internet page coming soon….
Terry, Al, Ernest, Darren and the rest of the team would like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to all of their customers, suppliers and friends that have supported us on our journey so far….
